Joel is one of the best Pitmasters in the state of NC and Nation. Joel previously worked for "The Pit: Authentic Barbecue" restaurants where he was the Head Pitmaster who oversaw all food production for both barbecue restaurants as well as Empire Eats Catering. He has experience producing thousands of pounds of protein for a single event and has learned how to prevent a grill from breaking down when exposed to heat, grease, weather, and time. Joel & Pete's vast experience cooking over live coals both lead the design of the OG 60 and Patio Pit. Both are built to last, built to be efficient and safe, and built to be user friendly unlike Kamado style grills.
A few of Joel's big-time events: private party on JFK's Presidential Yacht the "Honey Fitz", Joyce Farms Pig Pickin' Tours, Annual NC ‘Cuegrass Festival, The Farm Aid Festival - Backstage VIP, UNC & NCSU Football games & large tailgates, hundreds of Weddings and Corporate events, and representing North Carolina (one of six States invited) at a major BBQ event on Pennsylvania avenue, in Washington D.C.
PETE KINDEM - PITMASTER, CHEF, & GRILL EXPERT
Pete is a 20+ year medical sales executive. However, his true passion lies with Grills, Barbecue, and Tailgating. Ever since high school most of his free time has been spent over his backyard grills, behind his tailgate vehicle with his dueling custom double keg grills, or slow cooking a whole hog on a full-size pig cooker over a bed of live coals. Since 2017 he has become an expert at servicing & cleaning high-end gas grills. He now knows as much about grills as anyone in NC. Pete is the definition of a "grilling junkie" and is living by the motto "Sometimes you have to start at the bottom to get to the top".
Pete is also extremely knowledgeable when it comes to NC Barbecue and regional Barbecue around the U.S. He has visited more BBQ joints in North and South Carolina than the Bible has Psalms. Be sure to ask him questions the next time you see him.
KATIE GEORGE - CHEF & PASTRY CHEF
Katie has an extraordinary passion for food. Katie started as a pastry chef over a decade ago. She creates unique pastries, desserts, and cakes for restaurants, weddings, and other events. While she specializes in all desserts and wedding cakes, her love of cooking enlivens all her menu items. She enjoys having direct contact with her customers and making their days and events truly memorable. Katie is thankful for being able to make a living doing what she loves. Cooking and spending time with her daughter are her passions in life. She looks forward to sharing her talents with you and your guests.
PAUL KINDEM - OPERATIONS & NEW GRILL/OUTDOOR KITCHEN SPECIALIST
Paul was formerly an investment professional where he invested hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of UNC Chapel Hill & NC State University as well as 13 other NC public universities. His time investing into both public and private companies fueled his desire to help build a business from the start and is now an expert on grills, outdoor kitchen components, and bbq accessories. He has established great relationships with the very best grill manufacturers on the market & enjoys sharing this knowledge with OG customers.
